Three miles across the Trango Glacier and just above the confluence of the North and South Hainabroq Glaciers was the elusive Shipton Spire. Shipton Spire stands two hours walk from Trango Towers Group on Upper Trango Glacier. It rises out of the massive glacial junction with it's walls looking stunning and fierce.

Many climbers from around the world are attracted by these rock towers. The climbing is hard but the rock quality is superb. On its major route a 29 pitch, 4,400 ft. big-wall with the pitch rated 6c, 7b and 7b+ certainly offer best technical climb one can expect on a Karakoram granite tower.

Trip Itinerary:

Day 01 Islamabad

Arrive Islamabad. Transfer to hotel. Official briefing.

Overnight hotel.

Day 02 Skardu/Chilas

Fly to Skardu. (Flight is subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to hotel for overnight.

In case of cancellation of flight (10-12 hrs) drive by coach to Chilas (480 km) on Karakoram Highway. Overnight hotel.

Day 03 Chilas/Skardu

Day free at Skardu

If your are driving, complete road journey (07-08 hrs) to Skardu (275 km) En-route has good view of Nanga Parbat (8125m) at junction of Indus River and the rapids and fall of Indus River. Overnight hotel.

Day 04 Askole (3000m)

By jeeps drive to Askole (8-9 hrs). The last village of about 50 houses. The villagers grow their own cereals, vegetables and fruits and own large herds of sheep, goats, yaks and dzos.

Overnight camp.

Day 05 Jhola (3200m)

Start 2-3 hours, walk below the Biafo Glacier, a tortured Ocean of moving boulders and crevasses 2-km wide and continue to Jhola (4-5 hrs). Cross-Dumardo River Bridge and camp at campsite surrounded by a few bushes with a side stream.

Overnight camp.

Day 06 Paiyu (3600m)

Start on a relatively easy trail for 3-4 hrs. Crossing Bardumal campsites along a 2-km stretch of sandy River beach. After a lunch break continue towards Paiyu camp for another 2-3 hrs from where we enjoy magnificent Panorama of Cathedral Towers and triangle of K2 to the left for the first time.

Overnight camp.

Day 07 Base Camp (3900m)

6-8 hours slightly easy walk, with spectacular views and gigantic mountain panorama, including Gasherbrum IV and Mitre Peak. Overnight at tent.

Day 08-37 30 days for acclimatization and climbing.

Day 38 Paiyu (3600m)

Trek back to Paiyu. Overnight camp.

Day 39 Jhola (3200m)

Drive to Hunza. Afternoon free for leisure. Overnight hotel.

Day 40 Askole (3000m)

Trek to Askole. Overnight camp.

Day 41 Skardu (2340m)

By jeep drive to Skardu. Overnight hotel.
